Wordical Productions joins with Worldwide Music Alive!

Wordical Productions is now officially in charge of the San Diego portion of WORLDWIDE MUSIC ALIVE! We have quite a few performances coming up beginning this summer throughout next year and I need anyone who knows anyone who is an entertainer to contact me right away (musicians, acting, singing, comedians, dancers, of all kinds of performers, etc.).

Worldwide Music Alive is an organization dedicated to putting music back in the schools – this is a NATIONWIDE organization and there will be extensive press coverage as the year pushes forward!

Youth Challenged during filming

The youth and young adults involved in Wordical’s production of “Try’na Make A Change” were challenged in their emotions and attitudes during their filming this past week. The scene called for some violent action and the use of a weapon, all being done outdoors at night – our location was on Market Street. All around us was lighting, the camera was up, the boom mic was lifted high, it was done in a fenced private property area, and all was permitted. One of San Diego’s finest, a police officer drove up and sat in his car parked at the street watching us so I approached to see if there was something he needed. As I did so, he began to speak rudely, angrily, and in a very unprofessional manner. This continued even after I tried to explain who we were and what we were doing, even suggesting for him to look us up on his website. He then came out of his car and began yelling at me with the same disrepect he did while I was looking through his window. I told him we did not want any trouble and we will adjust and move the scene inside. He did not stop yelling and all the kids just stared at him in disbelief that this was a man of law. Even in my anger I stayed controlled because it would not look good for the kids to see their director being hauled away in a cop car. I asked if he was done with me and he said yes and went back in his car and sat there. I told everyone to pick up everything and move inside – we did. Then the officer approached our door and pointed to one of our young male actor (who was inside the building by now) and told him to come outside. I decided to go with them to the street. When we got there, the officer began to tell our actor that he saw him “mad-dogging” him. I thank God this young man was polite as he spoke back. It seemed that this caused the officer to become more angry and demanded our licenses . . . we complied. The attraction on the street drew 3 more police cars and when another officer approached us, our original police man changed his whole attitude! What the heck!!! He became very gentle and kind . . . I have to say that I am really blessed to be working with a group of youth and young adults that know how to handle themselves much better than the way this man acted toward us. Maybe he should join Wordical and learn something from these incredible talented people!

Wordical Productions watches the famed, “Shen Yun”

Wordical Productions’ director, Kathy Sharpe and choreographer, JaQueline Osborne both were invited to view the famed performance known as “Shen Yun” at the Civic Center in San Diego. Article written as follows from Epoch Times:

SAN DIEGO—Shen Yun Performing Arts completed its first of seven shows Saturday evening, Dec. 26, at the San Diego Civic Theatre. San Diego is the first city in California to receive Shen Yun on its 2010 tour.

Ms. Sharpe, a director of stage production, Wordical Productions, watched the show with Ms. Osborne, a choreographer. They both thoroughly enjoyed the show.

“This is incredible! This is absolutely incredible!” Ms. Sharpe said enthusiastically. “I like the choreography. The story-telling with the choreography is awesome, it’s just awesome,” she exclaimed.

Ms. Sharpe added that Shen Yun’s costumes are fantastic and that the colors along with the dances were coordinated well. She feels that if her students watched the show it would broaden their perspective of dance.

Ms. Osborne had similar feelings after watching Shen Yun. She saw in the show dance movements that she would like to teach her students. She also noticed the great degree of difficulty of the dance movements, stating, “That’s really hard to do, that’s a really hard move to make. The dancing, the turning, [and] the spinning consistently across the stage is unreal. It’s amazing.”

Wordical Productions teams up with Gateway Christian Fellowship for Youth Conference!

Wordical Productions is now AUDITIONING for ANY TALENT from BIKE TRICKS to INSPIRATIONAL SPEAKERS to INSTRUMENTALISTS, DANCERS, SINGERS, SKATEBOARDERS, DOUBLE DUTCH JUMPERS and WHATEVER ELSE! This will be an incredible two day event! If you are between the ages of 13 and 21 – we would love you to audition for a major youth conference coming in February/March next year!

Gateway Christian Fellowship and Wordical have teamed up to hold an incredible citywide youth concert night, “KINGDOM’S GOT TALENT” Can you handle it? Within the concert will be San Diego’s own incredible talented youth in a production you don’t want to miss!

Wordical Productions has been asked to do a short 20 minute performance for a Gospel Brunch on August 23rd at the Cultural Center in Balboa Park.

This will be a live performance and we will have 2 to 3 strong rehearsals before hand. If you have talent you would like to showcase (singing, acting, dance), come audition as soon as possible! Call us at 858 220-9293 and we will set up an appointment!

“Craving Innocence” to audition FOR CAST toward the end of this summer

Please keep your eyes open and check back with us toward the end of summer for auditions. We will definitely be looking for teens ages 14 thru 17 who have a passion to act. We will also be auditioning singers and dancers (urban style – hip hop, step, etc.)! CHECK BACK!!!!
